Origin

The Additive Manufacturing Network was established in April 2014 through the combined efforts of AMTIL and CSIRO. Since that time The AM Network has worked to create interest in the adoption of additive manufacturing. In 2018 the AM Network was extended with funding from the Victorian government and it became the Additive Manufacturing Hub (AM Hub).

Vision

The vision of the AM Hub is to provide an industry driven collaborative network of AM users, suppliers and supporters that will foster and grow the additive manufacturing sector in Australia.

Goals & Objectives

The goals and objectives of the AM Hub are to:

  • expand the knowledge base of the Additive Manufacturing sector;
  • provide a forum for open dialogue and communication for the Additive Manufacturing industry;
  • encourage R&D, innovation and collaboration in the field of Additive Manufacturing;
  • provide a voice to Government on Additive Manufacturing sector development;
  • market and promote Additive Manufacturing sector capabilities.

Membership

Membership of the AM Hub is free for all AMTIL members.

Benefits

The benefits of membership are:

  • Access to a dedicated AM capability directory, and free listing for all AM suppliers
  • Networking events with AM suppliers, AM providers and international contacts in the AM space.
  • Access to discounted advertising space on the monthly AM bulletin sent to a wide audience across Australia and New Zealand.
  • Representation by an industry body that will advocate for AM-specific issues and concerns.
  • Access to the Victorian government voucher program, providing dollar for dollar matching.
  • Invitation to VIP special events.

Communication

Communication between Network Members is administered through a variety of mechanisms, these are:

  • Access to the AM Hub website and social media platforms;
  • Monthly AM Hub bulletin;
  • Quarterly AM Hub e-mag / pdf;
  • Interaction and discussion on the Additive Manufacturing Hub LinkedIn group.

Activities

There are many and varied activities that will be available to AM Hub Members. These include:

  • Networking functions;
  • Events, exhibitions and conferences;
  • Site visits;
  • Access to Government funding mechanisms;
  • Access to reports.

Future Plans

There are currently a number of benefits planned to be available to AM Hub Members

  • AM Hub website with access to information, events, and a capability directory
  • New communication streams through social media and e-news
  • Focus sessions for AM Hub Members to give feedback on AM Hub strategy
  • AMTIL are a Strategic Partner of the Innovative Manufacturing CRC, allowing Network Members access to research funding through the IMCRC Portal
  • AMTIL are running the Additive Manufacturing Pavillion at Austech in Melbourne in May 2019
  • The Inside 3D Printing Conference will be held in May 2019
