AMTIL has announced the launch of its new Policy & Government Affairs Branch, reinforcing its commitment to providing a stronger, more influential voice for Australia's advanced manufacturing industry.
The establishment of the new Branch represents a significant investment in advocacy and government engagement, ensuring AMTIL members have a stronger voice in shaping the policies that will influence the future of manufacturing.
A stronger voice for industry
As part of AMTIL’s strategic plan, the new Policy & Government Affairs Branch has been established to strengthen the organisation’s advocacy capability and increase engagement with governments, industry and key stakeholders on the issues that matter most to Australia’s advanced manufacturing sector.
The Branch will work to ensure the industry’s priorities are represented through evidence-based policy development, consultation and advocacy, helping to influence decisions that support innovation, investment, skills development, productivity and long-term industry growth.
AMTIL’s advocacy will be informed by member experiences, industry data, research, market insights and economic analysis, ensuring policy positions reflect the real opportunities and challenges facing manufacturers across Australia.
Karen Parr appointed Director, Policy & Government Affairs
Leading the new Branch is Karen Parr, who joins AMTIL as Director, Policy & Government Affairs.
Karen brings almost 20 years’ experience in policy, advocacy and stakeholder engagement across Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. She has held senior leadership roles within government and for-purpose organisations, leading complex policy initiatives and working closely with government, industry and research organisations to strengthen Australia’s manufacturing and innovation capability.
Prior to joining AMTIL, Karen served as CEO of BioMelbourne Network, where she established and led the Australian Medtech Manufacturing Alliance, and previously held the role of Director, Policy and Government Relations at AusBiotech.
Karen is passionate about advancing Australian manufacturing and ensuring the sector remains competitive, innovative and future-ready.
Members invited to help shape AMTIL’s advocacy agenda
AMTIL’s advocacy is strongest when it is informed by the experiences of its members.
As part of the new initiative, member organisations are encouraged to nominate a policy representative who can contribute to consultations, policy discussions, roundtables and other engagement opportunities. Member participation will play an important role in ensuring AMTIL’s advocacy reflects the priorities of industry and strengthens the sector’s influence with governments.
Further information on how members can nominate their policy representative and become involved in AMTIL’s advocacy initiatives will be available via the Policy & Government Affairs section of the AMTIL website – CLICK HERE.
