His capabilities include plastic and metal additive manufacturing, industrial metrology and calibration, manufacturing process control, motion transducer technology. Mike is currently Managing Director of Renishaw Oceania; Renishaw is a global manufacturing and engineering firm that produce metal 3D printers. During Mike’s tenure as Managing Director, Mike and his team have grown the metal additive manufacturing capability in Australia to significant scale, and are well known in the region for their excellence in service and technical support.
Joe Carmody - Managing Director, Evok3D
Joe Carmody is Founder and Managing Director of EVOK3D, a specialist 3D Printing Solutions company based in Melbourne Australia.
Representing Hewlett Packard 3D (HP3D) in Australia, Joe has a deep understanding of where and how Additive Manufacturing (AM) delivers value for Australian manufacturers as well as the barriers to adoption.
Prior to founding EVOK3D in 2013, Joe worked 8 years for Siemens Dematic in Supply Chain & Automation and this area triggered the realisation that AM would ultimately be transformative to the entire product value chain. This inspiration continues to drive Joe to advocate AM to education, industry and government.
Tony Dong - Technical Manager, MSC Software
I have been involved in various FEA simulation projects since 1997. I am now working as the technical manager at MSC Software (under Hexagon) in Melbourne to support additive manufacturing process simulation with our solution Simufact Additive. I am also supporting MSC customers in ANZ in aerospace, defence, mining, universities, etc. I would like to work with additive manufacturing companies to investigate the challenges in the manufacturing process and failures in the printed parts with the simulation technology. Using virtual trial & error simulation technology supports manufacturing industry. I am looking forward to working with more manufacturing companies.
Michael Fuller - Founder & CEO, Conflux Technology
Michael spent more than fifteen years as a senior engineer in the European motorsport industry, where he was a designer of championship-winning Formula One, World Rally and Le Mans prototype race cars. His experience and expertise in this space led him to launch Conflux Technology, with the aim of harnessing the potential of additive manufacturing and pioneering thermal technology. Michael designed Conflux’s patented AM heat exchanger in 2015 and leads the Conflux team.
Rod Hunt - Sales Manager, ANZ, Autodesk
Rod Hunt leads Autodesk’s Manufacturing business in Australia and New Zealand. He is responsible for the division’s sales direction and strategy, partnering with the channel network, and driving the adoption of advanced manufacturing software tools in the region. Rod joined Autodesk in 2004 and has over 30 years of experience in the manufacturing and engineering industries across the Asia Pacific region. Prior to this, he was the Asia Pacific Operations Manager for an Australian-based multi-national manufacturer of food packaging and processing equipment. He also brings with him a strong understanding of the Autodesk channel network having been involved in sales, business development, marketing and engineering support functions within the network in the first 10 years of his career. Rod has a Mechanical engineering background which he attained in Sydney and Virginia.
Byron Kennedy - Co-Founder and CEO, Spee3D
Byron Kennedy is co-founder and CEO of SPEE3D, a high-speed, metal 3D printing company in Melbourne, Australia. He leads the business strategy and vision, in addition to bringing vast experience from the manufacturing industry and understanding the challenges manufacturers face.
Byron is a serial entrepreneur, having cofounded the first spin-off company from Charles Darwin University before exiting to NYSE listed company Regal Beloit (Fasco). Product successes have included multiple solar cars, innovative electric motors, electric bicycles, pool pumps and more.
Academically he has a Bachelor of Engineering (Hon), Masters of Engineering, holds over numerous patents and has written Academic papers in diverse fields such as electric vehicles, battery systems, solar cars and 3D printing. Individual awards include Young Engineer of the Year Northern Division as well as a World Record in solar car racing.
Jakes Mantle - Product Manager, SYSPRO
My working life began with a variety of casual semi-permanent jobs while studying towards my accounting qualification. I worked as Financial Accountant, then a Cost and Management Accountant, before the SYSPRO ERP love affair began 25+ years ago. Since then I have concentrated on successfully helping distribution and manufacturing businesses simplify their success with SYSPRO ERP. My main passion life is to create a solution for the company ensuring their success, from ERP solutions to business process improvements. I live my life by a motto “Miracles we do now, Impossibilities take just a little longer”
Matt Minio - Managing Director, Objective3D
Matt has extensive hands on experience as a user and supplier of 3D Printing technology. He comes from a mechanical design and engineering background with more than 25 years’ experience in multiple high end 3D cad applications across a range of industries, including aerospace and automotive. He has been heavily involved in the 3D printing evolution – from initial early prototyping to todays advanced 3d printing technologies producing production parts straight off the printer. As Managing Director of Objective 3D, he provides Stratasys, Desktop Metal and Concept Laser 3D printing solutions to a host of industries across Australia and New Zealand.
Paul Philips - Managing Director, Benson Machines
Paul Philips comes from a background in precision manufacturing and has been involved in the specification, supply and support of manufacturing technology for over 40 years, he is currently the Managing Director of Benson Machines. Sydney based Benson Machines supplies and supports a wide range of leading-edge manufacturing technologies, which are sourced from around the world. This brought Benson to introduce additive manufacturing into its portfolio in 2009 with the introduction of the “Rapman”. More than 250 3D Printers have been delivered and supported by Benson since then. Paul was the Chairman of the Australian Machine Tool Association, which was incorporated into AMTIL in 1999. He has been a Board member of AMTIL almost continuously since and is now an Honorary Life Member.
