In the world of problem-solving and adaptation, manufacturers are the world’s experts. But in the world of gender equity, women continue to be outnumbered five to one. What are the keys to attracting and retaining talent?  In this wide-ranging panel discussion, leading regional women share their experiences in building diverse and innovative teams and what that has meant for their companies.

Commonwealth Bank – Women in Manufacturing

Location: Future Solutions Speaker Sessions Stage

Speaker: Maria Christina, National Manager of Manufacturing and Wholesale

The presentation will discuss recent findings from CBA Manufacturing Insight Research. Across the sample size of 300 manufacturers across the country, only one of a third of employees is female, and on average only 20% of executive teams are female.

The majority of manufacturers have diversity targets in place and over half are confident about meeting them. These targets are most likely focused on addressing an imbalance of gender in the workplace. Challenges to achieving the diversity targets are due to underrepresented groups being unable or unwilling to work the hours required as well as a lack of skilled and qualified candidates among underrepresented groups.

We will explore how businesses differentiate from other organisations in order to attract and retain women in their workforce.
