AMW 2022 – Where technology meets innovation

Preparations are well underway for the inaugural Australian Manufacturing Week exhibition, taking place in Sydney in June 2022. Owned and operated by AMTIL, AMW is Australia’s premier manufacturing solutions event. Under the theme ‘Where technology meets innovation’, AMW 2022 will take place at the International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney) in Darling Harbour from 7-10 June 2022. “We’re getting very excited about the way the work on AMW has been going,” says Kim Banks, Head of Events at AMTIL. “The response from industry has been incredibly positive, with the exhibition space already fully booked apart from a handful of stands. This is a really big, important new venture for AMTIL, so we’re really thrilled with the enthusiasm for it that we’ve seen out there.” AMW will occupy more than 9,000 square metres of exhibition space at the ICC Sydney, with more than 140 organisations taking stands to showcase the latest manufacturing technologies, processes and support services. Six dedicated zones will cover a range of specialised aspects of the modern manufacturing landscape: Additive Manufacturing. Australian Manufacturers Pavillion. Machine Tools & Ancillary Equipment. AMTIL announces changes to Australian Manufacturing Week 2022 exhibition

AMTIL on 10 September announced changes to the schedule for next year’s Australian Manufacturing Week (AMW) exhibition, relocating and rescheduling the event from Melbourne in March to Sydney in June. The AMTIL Board has decided not to proceed with the AMW 2022 exhibition that had been scheduled to take place at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre (MCEC) from 8-11 March 2022. The decision was taken in response to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak in Victoria and the resultant uncertainty over the viability of large public events so early in 2022. “The AMTIL Board met last week and made the very difficult decision not to proceed with the show in its current March 2022 timeslot,” said Shane Infanti, Chief Executive Officer of AMTIL. “Despite the great support we have for the exhibition from all our exhibitors, recent developments relating to the COVID-19 Delta strain have created an unpredictable environment that we felt had the potential to seriously jeopardise the event given that it is so early in the New Year.” With the Melbourne event not going ahead, AMTIL is now moving forward with plans for a rescheduled event to take place later in the year in a different location. A…

BMS Group signs up as AMTIL’s latest Corporate Partner

AMTIL has announced the appointment of BMS Group as the latest addition to its Corporate Partner program. BMS is an agile, lateral thinking insurance broker that specialises in crafting bespoke solutions to protect the growth and reputation of its customers’ businesses. The BMS team has spent decades nurturing clients through the ups and downs of business. We’re all used to receiving those insurance renewals at the same time year on year, but we rarely consider whether those policies are properly protecting the unique commercial risks facing our businesses. Circumstances can change quickly: your business structure; revenue and staffing; securing or divesting assets, or even a pandemic like COVID-19. Moreover, changes in your business often require alterations to your policies to ensure you are correctly covered. Most importantly, you don’t have to wait for your insurance renewal to review your policies. Renewals may be annual, but reviewing and potentially updating your policies should be an ongoing process. BMS knows manufacturing and its staff take the time to understand your business circumstances, before structuring a bespoke insurance solution tailored to each unique risk profile. That means that BMS becomes a natural part of each client’s team, allowing us to provide strategic,…

AMTIL calls for manufacturing to be designated an essential industry

The Australian Manufacturing Technology Institute Limited (AMTIL) has backed calls for manufacturing to be classified as an essential industry in the event of a more severe lockdown to combat the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The Federal and State Governments have already imposed restrictions on a number of businesses offering non-essential services as part of measures to support social distancing and contain the spread of coronavirus. Should further limitations become necessary, AMTIL has urged the Government to ensure that appropriate exemptions are made for businesses and staff working in the manufacturing industry. “Manufacturing is essential, not just to our economy but in meeting so many of society’s most crucial requirements,” said Shane Infanti, AMTIL’s CEO. “And as this crisis has evolved, we’ve also seen manufacturers across the country stepping up and assisting in national efforts to combat the virus. It’s vital that manufacturers and their supply chains can continue to operate with as little disruption as possible.” While acknowledging that the health and wellbeing of the public should be the main priority in our handling of the coronavirus outbreak, Infanti noted that the manufacturing industry has been particularly vigilant in adopting measures to ensure the safety of their workplaces and staff.…

Austech has always provided a comprehensive showcase of the latest innovations across every category of advanced manufacturing technology, and that tradition will continue at this year’s show, with two dedicated areas focusing on specialised technologies – the Digitalisation/Industry 4.0 Pavilion, and the Air Technology Pavilion. Having made its debut two years at Austech 2017, the Digitalisation Pavilion will again explore the latest technological developments at the cutting edge of manufacturing today. Amid ever-accelerating rates of technological change, and ever-growing competition, it is vital to not get left behind. The Digitalisation Pavilion will provide a snapshot of how the latest smart technologies are changing the very basis by which products are manufactured today, while offering insight into how these changes can benefit you and your business. Meanwhile the Air Technology Pavilion is a new section of the Austech exhibition, focusing on the latest state-of-the-art compressor equipment and associated air technologies. Encompassing…
