NCG CAM Automated Toolpath Generator: Easy to Use and Learn – Powerful Machining Strategies - Cost Effective License Pricing - Perpetual Software License – No annual license fees. NCG CAM is a high-end automated toolpath generator for complex part CNC machining. The toolpaths are calculated on a 3D CAD model produced in a 3D CAD software. NCG CAM does not have any 3D modelling capabilities as this is best done in one of the many 3D solids and surface modelling systems available. NCG CAM reads all the standard file formats such as STL, IGES, STEP, RAW, CLD and VDA-FS but also directly interfaces with systems like PARASOLIDS, Pro-Engineer, CREO and CATIA. NCG CAM offers an extensive library of roughing and finishing strategies for producing excellent surface finishes at optimum machining times. NCG CAM is designed for shop floor machining workflow where the machinist has full control of the machining process. This type of workflow provides for large improvements in efficiency and overall part quality. NCG CAM is particularly suited to Mould, Tool and Die applications where accuracy and surface finish is important to minimise subsequent polishing operations. A unique machining feature is adaptive area clearance which eliminates full width…

AMTIL has announced the appointment of BMS Group as the latest addition to its Corporate Partner program. BMS is an agile, lateral thinking insurance broker that specialises in crafting bespoke solutions to protect the growth and reputation of its customers’ businesses. The BMS team has spent decades nurturing clients through the ups and downs of business. We’re all used to receiving those insurance renewals at the same time year on year, but we rarely consider whether those policies are properly protecting the unique commercial risks facing our businesses. Circumstances can change quickly: your business structure; revenue and staffing; securing or divesting assets, or even a pandemic like COVID-19. Moreover, changes in your business often require alterations to your policies to ensure you are correctly covered. Most importantly, you don’t have to wait for your insurance renewal to review your policies. Renewals may be annual, but reviewing and potentially updating your policies should be an ongoing process. BMS knows manufacturing and its staff take the time to understand your business circumstances, before structuring a bespoke insurance solution tailored to each unique risk profile. That means that BMS becomes a natural part of each client’s team, allowing us to provide strategic,…

The Australian Manufacturing Technology Institute Limited (AMTIL) has backed calls for manufacturing to be classified as an essential industry in the event of a more severe lockdown to combat the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The Federal and State Governments have already imposed restrictions on a number of businesses offering non-essential services as part of measures to support social distancing and contain the spread of coronavirus. Should further limitations become necessary, AMTIL has urged the Government to ensure that appropriate exemptions are made for businesses and staff working in the manufacturing industry. “Manufacturing is essential, not just to our economy but in meeting so many of society’s most crucial requirements,” said Shane Infanti, AMTIL’s CEO. “And as this crisis has evolved, we’ve also seen manufacturers across the country stepping up and assisting in national efforts to combat the virus. It’s vital that manufacturers and their supply chains can continue to operate with as little disruption as possible.” While acknowledging that the health and wellbeing of the public should be the main priority in our handling of the coronavirus outbreak, Infanti noted that the manufacturing industry has been particularly vigilant in adopting measures to ensure the safety of their workplaces and staff.…

With the LDMblue high-power diode laser, is the world’s first blue diode laser with continuous wavelength (cw) output power of up to 1 kW at 450 nm wavelength that allows for a controlled heat conduction welding of highly reflexive non-ferrous metals such as copper. As the international leading developer and manufacturer of diode lasers for industrial material processing, Laserline has released the world’s first blue cw diode lasers with up to 1 kW output power have been made available as the high- power lasers of the LDMblue series. The laser operates with a light wavelength of 450 nm, and are the first industry lasers capable of making a controlled heat conduction welding of high reflexive nonferrous metals such as copper and gold. Especially useful for the joining of thin copper bondings used in battery technology for electric vehicles. Finely tuned power regulations within milliseconds and extraordinary calm melt pools will ensure smooth-seam areas with excellent electrical conductivity these lasers offer new and more efficient manufacturing options. Additionally, the LDMblue series have been successfully tested in cladding processes based on non-ferrous metals. Supported by the German government research programme EffiLAS (Efficient high- power laser beam sources), the new laser series…

Raymax Lasers in Sydney are pleased to announce their partner, SLM Solutions Group, Lübeck, Germany have supplied Rolls-Royce with SLM®500 quad-laser machines to help develop its Additive Layer Manufacture Capability. The machines will play an important role in helping Rolls-Royce in the competitive adoption of additive layer manufacturing for aerospace components. SLM Solutions focuses solely on metal additive manufacturing technology and pioneered multi-laser machines. This years-long experience mastering multi-laser optics, together with their patented bi-directional recoating mechanism makes selective laser melting systems the most productive on the market. With four lasers enabling build rates up to 171 cm3, the SLM®500 serves as the flagship metal 3D printer for high volume processes while offering automated, closed-loop material supply, recovery and sieving to minimize operator handling of metal powder. Speed and safety are common requirements, but aerospace is a challenging environment for manufacturing because of the rigorous certification process that requires a reliable, high standard of part quality. Rolls-Royce required multi-laser systems to meet both their productivity demands and maintain rigorous quality controls previously established. This also led them to adopt the four laser SLM®500, the first quad-laser machine introduced to the market in 2013. Essential to their selection of SLM…
